His mother, in black despair after losing her mate and beloved daughter, turned all her maternal attention on her remaining son. She was determined not to let him share his father and sister's fate. She decided that they needed to leave the Flamecaller's territory completely because She had taken her family while they were in service to Her and so Legend turned her back on her clan and her faith. She saved up and researched and decided to emigrate to the tip of the Earthshaker's lands in a clan whose main purpose was artistic and peaceful. Finally her petition and toll were paid to become a citizen. She then chose to steal her son 8n (for he too had been marked to go to the front to serve the Flamecaller and she needed to rescue him before that happened). She had him change his name and with the money she had obtained from the sales of items which were not hers to sell she obtained the magic potions that would completely change his looks. She begged him to find a peaceful career in this odd artistic clan. He chose to become a carver -- particularly of pumpkins. While there was not as much call for this as he had hoped, he also learned to carve wood, bone and stone but his passion was carving fruit and vegetables into fantastic shapes. He was accepted as part of the kitchen staff of the holiday Spirit inn where he could indulge his love of carving.
