Leza was hatched in a small clan on the edge of the Carrion Canyon. Her memories of her home clan amount to a vague series of colours and shapes; barely days after she hatched, a plague ravaged the clan and decimated its population. Her mother had already fallen to the disease by the time her father grabbed her, all soft wings and huge, blue eyes, and took her to the unforgiving wastes of the Canyon. He left her there, saving her from a certain death from illness in favour of a likely death from exposure. As luck would have it—a stroke of luck that ended up saving little Leza's life—a group of Lightning Lancers was travelling through the area. They were the Stormcatcher's workers, travelling between outposts to fix problems too minor for the god to waste time on. They found the tiny fae, and felt a spark of pity for this squeaking, helpless creature. They decided to take her in, and raise her as a mechanic for the Stormlord. Leza learned a lot of things growing up among the Lancers: how to build a lightning rod, how to avoid stray blasts from the machinery, how to control the currents flowing through their wires. Unbeknownst to her, too, her body was adapting to her high voltage surroundings. Her eyes sparked, like those of her new family, and her wings crackled with electricity. But as she grew older, she began to understand how out of place she was: her draconic body couldn't do half the things the jagged, stormy forms around her could. These differences became more and more jarring, until she finally decided she had to leave. When she came of age, she packed her bags to see the world, hoping to understand herself and her ancestry better. Clan Concord After days of flying, she found herself in the Starfall Isles. She hesitantly settled with a clan there, still a little wary of other dragons. She soon warmed up to them however, becoming close friends with a blind guardian named Syzygos. He was a mechanic too, gifted with the ability to see electrical currents to compensate for his blindness. They could spend hours together tinkering with various contraptions, or discussing the pros and cons of a certain metal for wiring. Leza also worked out that her control of electricity allowed her to communicate with Syzygos better. She could draw diagrams or tell stories using sparkling currents of energy in the air, and his gift would allow him to see it. In return, he taught her some useful self-defence techniques he'd learned, and, when she found it was time to move on, gave her a small pack of trapped lightning spells that she could use to fight in a pinch.
