Zarya works for the same Super Secret Agency as Ash, except her element is fire instead of water. You'd think it was the other way around (ash = fire I guess) until you met them. Where Ash keeps cool in stressful situations and is generally adorable, Zarya has an incredible temper and always looks like she's about to set something on fire. Her level of impulsivity is rivaled only by Ash's constant indecision.

Zarya is also extremely defensive of Ash, because he would rather talk it out than fight, and she would rather burn everything to the ground. It's kind of strange because he's much taller than she is, but then you see Zarya wreathed in flames and you Understand. Ash is always putting out her fires and apologizing for the general level of destruction.
