Biography
the imperial, large for her breed, stared out across the bustling marketplace with eyes sharp and untrusting. the busy sounds of dragons haggling prices among themselves and carrying goods to and fro, while comforting to some, were completely alien in her own perspective. she was not used to this, being out in the sun, exposed, rather than taking solitary solace in the darkness of the night sky. the second she had taken up that job among a group of adventurers that weren't even related to her lineage, she should have known that this would be a disastrous endeavor.
this train of thought did not remain for long as her mind was snapped away from her internal grievances to meet the eyes of a ridgeback, large and imposing, striding his way over in her direction. he looked like her, dark with scales that almost seemed to reflect the image of shining stars in the sky. clearly out of place in an area such as this.
at least, that was what she had thought. this ridgeback, upon closer observation, seemed to be quite confident in the daytime. his body language was relaxed, not tense at all. a drastic juxtaposition to herself, clumsy and awkward out in the daytime with barely any shadows to blend in with. the words he uttered when he approached her further solidified this notion.
"my, my. one as beautiful as yourself has no place being somewhere like this, no?" his voice had a mischievous tone to it, almost as though he were wondering if she would play along. "may i ask your name, if you wouldn't mind?"
the imperial eyed him, her green eyes analyzing him for any sort of malice or ill intent. she did this three times over, however she could still not get a read on the towering ridgeback in front of her. "what is the game you are playing?" she hissed, having to look up to meet his gaze through her mask. she saw no reason for another dragon to approach her in the light of day in such a manner. if not to fight, then why?
"why, i simply had to see such a beautiful lady as yourself up close. my, where are my manners?" the dragon cut himself off, magenta eyes narrowing as he remembered something. "my name is lock."
the imperial did not know what to make of this. "if you expect me to tell you my name..." she rumbled in a low raspy voice, "i do not tell my name to commoners."
this much was true. there were few who truly knew her name. hers was a name that had to be earned, one that was to be respected by any whose ears it was laid upon. the last thing she expected was for this ridgeback, lock, to earn her name.
however, fate truly does work in the strangest of ways.
