Born of the Wisp Court, Cosma was raised a confident and many-talented child, known for the star-touched beauty of her scales, her skill as a spellsword, and her endless eagerness to travel and learn.

Her search for knowledge, splendor, and her charge brought her to the Weaver's realm. She wandered among a dizzying maze of darkened ruins, wholly unafraid. What could challenge her - a daughter of Tsaiare? She feared no beast, no ghost, no undead creature with drooling maw. But - perhaps drawn by her boldness and her willingness to walk alone in strange places - something else found her. Something other.

A fragment of darkness, deeper than the absence of light. A hundred mouthless tongues yearning for a vessel. It wormed its way beneath her scales, into her soul, seeking to take her strength for its own. And though she fought fiercely, she lost. She would have been utterly consumed - had it not been for the arrival of Eurydice.

Cosma would remember nothing but holy fire, like searing sunlight, burning through her as the dark-scaled guardian touched her wracked body.

When she awoke next, she found herself in the care of the Sanctum at the Altar of the Moons. Her recovery was slow, and she learned that she was forever-changed. Eurydice had weakened the sliver of darkness, of Shade, that had tried to consume her - but she hadn't destroyed it, for that would now destroy Cosma as well.

In time, as she regained her strength, a new certainty formed in the young guardian's mind. She would not leave this place. She would protect it. It would be her charge; fates be damned if it was not, she would make it so. She would learn to hunt down and destroy the other fragments of Shade that lurked in this land, using the darkness within her against its own kind.

She would not lose again.

Cosma meant to walk this path by herself, but Eurydice asked a favor of her, and she could not refuse her kindly savior. Should I be able to save others like you, please, Daughter of Most Beautiful Shadows: take them under your wing. Teach them to fight back against this darkness as well, if they wish it. It is all I ask. For even the brightest star that burns alone will fade.
