Children of the Sunsworn Trio are, in a word, devout. It doesn’t matter what cause or deity or godsforsaken beliefs they’ve devoted themselves to, because once they set their mind on something, not even the will of the deities will lead them astray from their chosen path.

Regardless of what thin line they choose to walk, all are equipped with the necessary monster-slaying, righteous-smiting, Shade-hunting skills. Whether or not they put them to good use is another matter entirely-- they can only learn so much from their parents, after all.

Faith is all too often a powerful, corruptive thing.
At first, it was easy for Hrafiel to take up the same oath her parents did and serve under the Sunsworn Guard. After passing all the grueling tests demanded of new recruits, she was granted her own set of armour, a mission brief, and the leadership of two other dragons-- recently graduated recruits like her.

Their task? To hunt down a witch terrorising a village deep in the Tangled Wood.

On the third day of the Month of Plague, some ways off the most distant hut in the village, Hrafiel found the witch's tracks. Her partners were still searching for clues and questioning the villagers. She knew full well how dangerous it was to continue without them.

She pressed on anyway, shield up and morningstar in claw, steadying her breathing and sending out probes through the earth to track her prey.

In the ever-present darkness of the Shadowbinder's domain, she did not see what followed her.
