Nature's Happiest Mishap
When Delphiki and Seramore had their second nest. They were disappointed with it only having one egg. When the egg began to shake and crack, Seramore called Delphiki over with excited chirping. "Its coming, the egg is hatching!" He called excitedly, flapping his pale yellow wings as he danced around the nest. Delphiki trotted over excitedly, dropping a few petals as she did. The two parents waited around the nest as the egg shook and cracked, a small brown beak protruding from the egg. Small chirping noises emitted from the tiny beak, and more of it became exposed as the egg began to crack further. Helping the new hatchling out of her egg, Seramore picked up his newest offspring ever so gently, plucking bits of eggshell out of her tiny mane.
Turning her around to face him, Seramore was met with a startling sight; she had three eyes! A third eye sat where a gem was supposed to be. Delphiki noticed the third eye as well, and began to nervously clack her beak. "Have you ever heard of a three-eyed Skydancer before?" Delphiki asked as Seramore placed their newest bundle of joy back in the nest to wriggle around. "No, I have not, but we'll love her anyways. Right?" Seramore answered, Delphiki nodding, feeling reassured that her mate won't reject the hatchling.
When Dermot got old enough, Tookin introduced her to the wonders of bug farming, and tasked her with overlooking a small portion of the land that was used for the project. Tookin, of course, knew what it was like to have multiple eyes outside of a breed where that was the norm. She watched the young Skydancer as she tried to pinpoint the location of bugs, sometimes closing one of her eyes. Tookin corrected her, teaching her how to hone in on one specific target with all three eyes, and was pleased to find out that she was a very quick learner. After catching a handful of bugs, Tookin sent Dermot to hunt down invasive spiders in the foraging insect area. She managed to quickly clear out a good portion of the spiders, and sent the rest running out of the enclosure.
As she grew and learned, she began to get antsy and wanted to leave the territory of the clan. Her parents were very supportive of her throughout her endeavors, and were both really relieved at how well she was thriving.
