Dumas was raised to be a Gaoler sentry from birth, and as such he knows very little about the workings of the modern outside world. His loyalty to Neelu is unmatched, and he follows her every order without an ounce of hesitation, effectively viewing himself as a tool to be used by his superiors. He has very little sense of self and individuality, as he isn't used to needing them, but his newfound circumstances are putting that fact more and more to the test. Due to Neelu's orders, but partially due to their own kindness as well, he serves the small Crystalspine clan in the same way that he once served the Sentry order. The eyes trailing down his spine are less acute than the ones in his head, but they can still detect motion, making it nearly impossible for him to be snuck up on.
