VAINEM

Rather than use her glass to create sculptures and other works, Vainem has put it to other use…in preservation. She likes to collect specimens of plants, insects and even other rocks which she then encases in a shining cover of glass. Sometimes it’s merely a thin veneer, other times it’s a weighty globe. Vainem’s creations make wonderful paperweights but are also great for studying the preserved specimen. She can carefully slice a plant in half to expose its inner structures than cover it in glass to allow others the joy of seeing the intricate details.
