ZaarisXXXXXXXXXXXXXXSoothsayer History A single candle illuminated the room. The yellow wax dripped down, sealing itself to the old wood table. Zaaris placed the tea leaves in her cup, waiting for a response from those beyond. As predicted, Tazeyar had fallen asleep long ago, exhausted from a day of patrolling. The longnecks were encroaching on the territory again, and Tazeyar was doing his best to stop the disagreement from becoming bloody. His gold helmet glinted in the sparse candle light, as the bright stars shone on his dark hide. The kettle was ready. She gently poured the warm water into the cop, trying her best to not disturb her company. She allowed the sediments to settle, and used the moment to gather her thoughts. Earlier in the day, Nidone had come to her troubled. Quiet had told her that Zoyja was wrong about her proclamations, and that perhaps the Matriarch was not to be trusted. Nidone did not know who to believe, and hoped Zaaris could offer insight. The Soothsayer had known about Quiet's silent rebellion, but never had any opinion on it. Zaaris knew Zoyja was passionate and paranoid, but did not believe her evil like Quiet claimed. As for them being divines, Zaaris thought- the leaves were ready. As predicted, Rovana would run off again, only to return with a new clutch and a missing father. Sembris would be displeased with the news. Zaaris scraped out the leaves with her butter knife, still coated in jam from earlier. The issue was not hers, so she did not allow herself to be burdened by the prediction. She set aside her tools, leaving them to be cleaned in the morning. Gently, she blew out her candle and left her table. Tazeyar was still dead asleep, and would not mind her joining him. Zaaris took off her mask and placed it on the nightstand before joining him in bed. As predicted, he did not mind her presence. |
