I remember my Daddy once said to me, "Little Lady, there's a certain time of the morn' I never want to see you up at." and I had chuckled like I always did when Daddy or even Mommy in the days beforehand made a joke. I said to him, "Daddy, and what's that?" the conversation had been quick paced and brief but his meaningful words had been enough to ruffle my feathers. He just glanced away and lowered his head quickly.
As a young girl, I'd been going to Church since I was 6 years old. I'm 16 now, and my Daddy has been gone for years.

I love math; I always have. Numbers are like gears, working together with one another to make the perfect porridge of knowledge and wisdom. If one number wanders out of step, all of them tumble away. Numbers have always been very, very... very special to me. And my father too.
My mother died 8 years ago, but numbers were also important to her.

My Daddy says it's a sin to fall in love, but now that he's been missing for over a year and I'm lost in a maze of underground tunnels, I think it's safe to say that seeing a boy is no longer a threat to my Daddy. Before you say anything, yes, I know he's "just trying to protect me." But I think it's a little more than that.
Daddy regrets ever meeting my mother, which initially means he regrets ever meeting me as well. Because if it wasn't for Mommy, I wouldn't even be alive. A question that's been lingering in my mind now since I was four, when I first heard my parents talking about me, is "What if he had met another woman and had a child with her instead of mommy? Would I be different? A different person, have a different story?"

It's hard to say. 6 more years and I'll be 22 and finally, by then I'll be free, free to do whatever I want, free of these tunnels, free of my Daddy's chains.
Hopefully, Daddy will be free in 4.

I've been trying to cope out the tunnels carefully; I have small journal that I luckily bought on a shoestring for only $6.16 at a small store around the corner of where I used to live. I have a small map of the tunnels at the back of the book, carefully etched into the fine paper;
With careful examination, I, Omen, have scoped out a few of the passageways in the tunnels that after a bit of talking with other lost explorers (there are only a couple that I'm sure have found their way out by now) I assume are called "Uncle's Road." Uncle's Road is a complicated system of paths that wind deep into the Earth.
As far as I can tell, Uncle's Road has nine entrances that lead into the tunnels. I came into them from the 8th. I had pieced together a little bit of my Daddy's location and after I saw the deep hole leading into the tunnels, I leapt at the discovery. Each different tunnel, shockingly, has a name. The entrance I took had the sub-name "Bird Call." Bird Call was a steep, narrow path that was illuminated by only the sun or moon, and even then, it was sheltered by ferns so that no light could filter in. After taking Bird Call, I was met with four more tunnels looming before me. I had only discovered one of their names, the tallest one. A small running brook gurgled against the walls of the small, tight cavern that allowed Bird Call to stop and the lowest tunnel (whose name has not been known yet) to begin. Of course, as anyone would do I am sure, I took the tunnel whose name I knew. It was called Light, and considering the positive energy that the tunnel's name gave off, it seemed like a good choice. Light was only accessible if you had powerful climbing skills. The only way you could reach it was by hanging onto the top rim of the lowest tunnel and heaving yourself onto Light's base. Then, with no more obstacles, you could continue your journey through Light.
After going through Light (which, by the way, should've been named Darkness), you would be met with yet another small cavern not even big enough for a dragon just bigger than me. I pity the Imperials lost in these caves. From here, I am met with 6 more tunnels, 4 of which I know the names of. I go through the one that goes deepest into the ground, Wind. I see where these names are going.
The Wind tunnel is short, this time very appropriate for it's name. I can feel a breeze on my scales, though I am unsure where it is coming from. There are no air shafts, and if there are, they are blessed with a magic that no dragon eye can see. From the Wind tunnel, a large, open field of stone welcomes me. I am unsure what this part of Uncle's Road is called, or if it has a name at all. The first time I wandered here, my attention was immediately caught by the large river trudging along the edge of the wide cave. Thought it's expanses were anything but small, it was shallow and the current was gentle and forgiving. A Spiral female had met me there, quickly appearing just after I had. Somehow, she had managed to get a hold of a rat. She offered to share, but I quickly refused; My diet consists only of insects and plants. To my utter joy, she was able to show me where an abundance of centipedes nestled in a cranny in the edge of the cavern. Though they were filling, centipedes are small bugs, and so I took about 64. She left before I could ask her her name. This is where I am stuck. What now? I have everything I need; Water, food, shelter.
But one thing is missing and that is my family.
