Tentudia had been born on a particularly frightful day, one where the clouds shone a menacing red and the winds howled like a vengeful beast being woke from a deep slumber. The juxtaposition could not have been greater, however, as her mother and father huddled in the attic of their inn around their first nest, the quiet ambiance of the patrons downstairs drowned out not only by the weather outside but by their eager anticipation, too. She had broke free of her egg before her siblings did, larger and stronger just by virtue of her breed alone. Her mother had craned her neck down to nudge and lick the fleshy eggshells that stubbornly clung to her firstborns scales, and smiled as the hatchling tumbled and mewled at the unfamiliar sights and smells. "Tentudia", Sardana had whispered as the last of the shell had been peeled away. "That's your name, little one."

Growing up on the outskirts of Lorica was unusual, in a way. Neither she nor her siblings felt the call of the deity that they now knew was endemic to the town. It was there at times, silently prowling, squirming in the back of their brains every time they looked over the hills at the distant silhouettes of buildings and cathedrals, blotted out by the diseased sun. She probably felt it the worst, yet was gone just as quickly as it came, dispelled by the voice of their mother calling them inside for tea, or their father shouting from the fields, even from the rough and tumble tackle of her brother or sister vying for her attention for the tenth round of hide and seek. It was hard to take her eyes off it sometimes, though, when the sun began to set and her parents wound the inn down for the day. Tentudia often became the ire of many patrons bairns, sneering and snickering at her wide-eyed stare. Despite her size and stature it was often her pearlcatcher siblings that stood up for her, chastising her onlookers and chasing them away.

Tentudia feels she owes much of her confidence and bravery today to the same fearlessness both Soleares and Regenwald had shown her tormentors all those years ago. As time passed and the three of them grew older, it was her younger sister who grew more timid and meek, retreating into not only herself but her books and old tomes. Her brother had grown up to be quite a snarky, well meaning adolescent, and although he still looked out for his siblings his presence wasn't always felt. He had taken up archery at this time, she remembers, how enthusiastic and eager he was to begin learning, disappearing for days on end only to return with game her mother was always so keen to cook up. Tentudia had to step up for his lack of attendance, glaring at unruly patrons who pushed her sisters books from the tables, sneered or tried to trip her as she walked by. She remembers the first time she truly got into a brawl, trading insults and eventual blows with a tippled skydancer where their skirmish led them out onto the cobblestone street. Tentudia still wears the scar she gained that day with pride, and she can't help but notice her sisters smile grows wider if she stares at her face for too long.

She lives at the inn with her parents even now, helping to keep the place running and vacating any trouble makers from the premises when things start to get rowdy. When Soleares departed for Lorica she left her sister a few cherished books, though the one that got her attention the most was a well-read encylopedia on botany. What started as a mere interest quickly grew into a passion, and Tentudia was gifted a small outcrop by the inn to grow all the herbs, flowers and spices she could get her claws on. Cindermint, black peppers, dusty marigolds and more, there was nary a plant she couldn't grow, and her care and attention has caused provisions to bloom, no longer solely reliant on trading or scavenging to bolster their supplies. Esdras often teases her, asking how such gentle hands that knead soil and caress roots could turn so brutal, but Tentudia merely laughs and carries on her chores. She can't grow too soft, not now. Especially not with her little brother Armondo to take care of.

She still eagerly anticipates the days her brother and sisters visit, and she's often the first one out the door before her parents have any time to react. She'll trade stories with her clutch mates of flowers and brawls as they crowd around the biggest table they can find, with warm food and cool drinks as laughter and happiness fills the air. Running the inn is a grueling task to be sure, but Tentudia knows it can be done, and it will only ever be done right with her family at the helm.
