Biography

Foxglove the Fearless Outrider ♢ Head Gatherer ♢ Master of Aerial Attack He is the only child of The Judge and The Beauty that has not chosen to dwell in the Icewarden's Keep. He wonders what it is like for his brothers and sisters, sometimes letting his vision blind as he stares into the southern whiteout. He was not chosen. Not wanted? Is it relief or bitterness that he feels? He quickly dismisses the thought and returns to his work. Even if he were chosen, he would readily disgrace himself. He has his reasons for remaining loyal to Izvault-- which isn't to say he has not pledged allegiance to his deity. He just considers the living more sacred than the eternal. Foxglove is surprisingly stubborn and hot-tempered for one with The Matriarch's Blessing: he feels neither cold nor heat. The harm of frostbite is often on his mind, the dark tinge to his wingtips and the deep, glass-shards pain creeping in his periphery. His mother, Papagena, worries for his health constantly. He is a good son and she loves him dearly. After each expedition Foxglove makes sure to bring her bouquets of flowers and berries. He plants red emperor and carnaval tulips around his childhood home, flower boxes overflowing with their morbidly cheerful blood-on-snow color. He always saves her the ripest bunches of Winter's Delight, a rare delicacy that grows plentiful only in high ravines among the Cloudscrape Crags. Papagena weaves pink flowers from Yarovit's garden into his mane and wishes he would stay longer. He never does. Foxglove is a self-styled pariah, preferring the quiet company of a hardy familiar while hunting alone on the frozen floes. Perpetual winter is a harsh clime. Foxglove must be focused in his mission for a successful return. It is easier for him in his solitude. Though herbivorous, he doesn't mind the procurement of fish and other meats. Death is a natural part of life. We must be respectful and thankful for the sacrifice of one life to sustain another, the gift of our time here, now, and be ever cognizant of our own mortality. He is often sought in Izvault to comfort the dying and help lay the dead to rest, a task he honors. His stone-bermed cabin can be found at the northern end of Sempervirensgard abutting the southern shore of Gletschersë, where even the invasive peace lilies will not grow and the subterranean clover does. When he is home, resting from a long hunt, eerily-glowing plumes of smoke can be seen curling from his many-flued chimney. They fade like blue ghosts into the cavernous black dome of Izvault as dim firelight winks from windows like orange eyes, casting long reflections on the still waters of the lake. He is stoking the embers, putting on the kettle, maybe entertaining the Blue-eyed Girl of Gletschersë. A recluse can still be a good host, and he never could say no to Zvoruna. Foxglove likes thick, well-seasoned soups and strong tea. He'll welcome you in and is willing to share-- as long as you're well-mannered and discreet. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ |
