“Mama?”
They had picked up the word from a couple of fluffy things, which had said it over and over until a very large fluffy thing came up and chased the hatchling away. But it felt like the right word.
They were so very cold. Blue eyes blinked in the sleet and ice that whirled around it. With no fur, the hatchling might not have been able to survive the night.
But where were it’s parents?
“Mama?”
No reply.

“What is... this.”
He reached out a paw and rubbed the shaking mass in front of him. A tiny, spindly thing that seemed to be fast asleep despite the obvious cold. He looked around for signs of a clan or even a traveling pair. But who would be foolish enough to leave a hatchling so bare in the snow?
And so dark. He would be eaten by dawn.
With a loud sigh, Aryavian hefted the nocturne onto his back and headed back to the Seeker’s outpost.
No use letting a hatchling die.
