Biography

tumblr_inline_nr08zwyNY71rbazpx_250.png

A gift from Skarlette's lovely dragon Wanderer on my birthday! I gave her Firefly and PC on that day too. Her name's Kokiri, after the forest and people and place of the Great Deku Tree in LoZ.

She's complimentary to Rhiannon in a way. Rhiannon represents the sandy beaches of NZ where I am now, and Kokiri reminds me of the forests that were where I used to live in the UK.

The Kokiri Forest is a location in Ocarina of Time. It is located on the eastern section of Hyrule within the Lost Woods, with Hyrule Field to the west and Zora's Fountain to the north. It serves as the home of the Kokiri tribe as well as its guardian spirit, the Great Deku Tree. The Kokiri Forest is known to be the source of life, maintaining the order of the world and deterring outsiders from ever entering the so-called forbidden forest. The Forest serves as Link's hometown.

The village and Forest region comprises the central part of the Lost Woods. It is located in the southeastern region of Hyrule, and it is accessed through the Lost Woods by crossing a small bridge. It is said that no Kokiri can ever leave the woods, or they will die. The Kokiri Forest itself is a pleasant village filled with tree-houses. There is a Training Center in the northern section of the Forest, where it is said the Kokiri Sword lies hidden. There is also a Shop which sells Deku Shields, among other things.

The Kokiri Forest is actually home to the Great Deku Tree's meadow and is a safe haven, compared to the rest of the Lost Woods. The entrance into the Lost Woods is found on a cliff overlooking the Kokiri Forest village. It is also through the Lost Woods that the Sacred Forest Meadow can ultimately be reached.
It is in this small village that young Link starts his adventure in Ocarina of Time. After venturing inside the Great Deku Tree to save him from Queen Gohma, the Great Deku Tree withers and died. Seven years later, upon retrieving the Master Sword from its Pedestal, Link must return to the once-peaceful village to find the Forest overrun by monsters such as Deku Babas, Mad Scrubs and Skulltulas, among others. In fear of the monsters, all of the Kokiri decide to take refuge inside their homes. They mention that ever since the Great Deku Tree died, monsters have begun to appear all over the Forest. Link then goes to the Forest Temple to defeat Phantom Ganon in order to break the curse on the temple and awaken Saria as the Sage of the Forest. By doing so, the Deku Tree Sprout is born and the Kokiri Forest returns to normal.
