Biography

Atheist Traveler
"There's no such thing as a deity"

The traveler from the fire clan appeared a little earlier than expected, but that was alright; it let them give him more time to set up shop. As far as you knew, he was here to sell a vast array of knives and swords as made by some smiths off in the Great Furnace.

"Can I help you set up?" you asked, and the traveler nodded, opening the doors of his cart. You hurried in to grab a sword, and noted some of the intricate detailing on the blade. "This is beautiful. It looks like something the Flamecaller might like."

"The Flamecaller doesn't exist," the traveler says confidently.

What? "What do you mean, the Flamecaller doesn't exist?"

"It doesn't exist," the traveller says, shrugging one wing out. "There's no such thing as a quote-unquote deity."

What. "But. Surely you've seen them before, they're not exactly secretive," you say, baffled. "The Stormcatcher literally does inspections in person on any trade goods, haven't you met him?"

"Fake," the traveler says. "You should know better, your fake deity isn't even around any more."

You reel back. "We're waiting for the Tidelord to come back. That doesn't make him not real."

"Him not being real makes him real," the traveler says.

You blink, angrily. "The Tidelord is real. He's not-"

"You're deluded," the insane skydancer says. "Can't any of you see it? There is no such thing as a deity. Do you believe in the tooth fairy, too?"

"I've spoken to the Tidelord!"

"No you haven't."

"Have too."

"Nope."

"How would you know?"

"Because they don't exist."

You sigh, shaking your head. You can tell you're not going to get through to him. But how.... how could you possibly come to that conclusion? The deities are everpresent on Sornieth- you can't get away from them.

Unless apparently you're this guy.

"Hey, are you listening to me?" the traveler asks, while going to set up a table. "You know I'm right."

"Right," you say weakly, and he launches into a detailed explanation of how somehow every single deity is somehow a creation of either the government or the beastclans. Everything he says makes less and less sense. You try your best to tune him out, but it still grates on your nerves.

You don't think you're going to let this salesman back any time soon.

Cadan is the only dragon who
knows the truth about Sorneith. No other dragons will ever admit it, but the shade and the deities are obviously made-up constructs that the dragons in power use to try and control the hapless masses. Only Cadan can see through their dastardly plans! He is the only dragon who can see it for what it is! A lie! Definitely a lie! Despite having spoken to certain 'deities' before, Cadan knows better than to think they're actual deities, because they clearly aren't deities, and he knows better.
In actuality, Cadan is too
busy being attached to his beliefs about the world to actually look at the world and admit that he's wrong. He'll deny evidence and proof even if it hits him in the face, and he refuses to admit when he's wrong- as he is on most subjects. His clanmates, exhausted, assigned him to a traveling role in the clan so that they wouldn't have to deal with his hilariously misinformed takes on everything from coliseum work to the Shade. Now, he gets to take his 'true and real' takes on life to other clans, where they get to deal with him instead.
