Brannon had very little say in becoming a healer. There had once been a time where he thought his withdrawn nature would have been better suited to that of a scholar or librarian, or perhaps a wandering scribe. Even now one would be hard pressed to squeeze more than a handful of words out of his pursed lips, the most conversation the majority would ever hear being reassurances from his less than stellar bedside manners. While the citizens of Lorica cannot say his staunch and cold attitude have made them any less afraid of their long overdue check ups, most, if not all, can attest to the fact that Brannon and his congregation of healers are exceptional at their job.

He couldn't be anything less than perfect. When his home clan came under fire from neighbouring beast clans, after years of rising tensions, anyone not already fighting instantly became an aid. By the time he had barely reached adulthood Brannon learned how to bind wounds and change dressings, staunch bleeding and cauterise abrasions... and when the ointments ran low and the last medicine had been used, he, along with dozens of others, turned to the herbal remedies to treat the sick and injured. They chewed chickweed, peppermint, rosemary and thyme between their fangs and beaks and mixed it with water gathered from the very mouth of their rivers source. When the bandages were soiled and red, they embalmed their lips and claws with their salve and kissed lacerations to soothe the pain of their patients. It was a miracle no one was lost, and it was this very miracle Brannon took upon himself to spread to the world when he left his clan.

He travelled for many years before he came to rest in Lorica, speaking of an all too familiar pull to those who already resided there. He had sought to push his healing abilities beyond what he already knew, held back by his physical form and limitations. Brannon sought knowledge from a particular imperial, whose library she guarded with such ferocity only kindled his curiosity, and upon sampling the scrolls, the tomes, the grimoires held within he knew why - this knowledge was powerful, intimate, and once tasted there was no turning back. The changes were subtle at first, a stray feather here, a dance of starlight across his skin there... eventually one was hard pressed not to notice the mane of silken plumage, the glimmer of the cosmos embedded into his body, his face contorted into a tablet of bone with his eyes peering out from beneath, deep, full of fire and wisdom and staring back at the world.

The tundra - or what remains of it - still endures as a stoic leader of his faction to this day, softness only felt in his medical touch. The only exception to his cold banality is his beloved mate, Avril, a healer like himself who has stood by his side throughout the worst of times, who grounded him when he felt close to losing himself. They are fiercly protective of one another, and one would be hard pressed to find them far apart. Despite his appearance those who seek his aid will often find a humble and caring dragon behind the cold exterior, wanting to help even the weakest of the frail and ill. While Brannon still draws breath, the work of his brotherhood will carry on.
