His soul burns so brightly that it spews through his eyes, his temper is as easily broken as thin ice. He could be a warbeast, he could be a general, he could be a king.

Haco never met his mother and father. When he tumbled out of his shimmering, magma-cracked egg, his parents took one look at him, and labelled him a freak of nature. After all, who looks at their newly hatched offspring with flaming eyes, and doesn't try to drown them? Though, despite having to live with that knowledge, that from the dragons he should have been closest to, he wasn't wanted even by them, this Gaoler is well known for being gentle, kind, and generous.

After his half-drowned, bedraggled hatchling body was snatched away by hooded, hulking dragons, then home he was taken into was strict. There was no affection or care, it was a constant state of teaching and learning on how each individual was to behave when they inevitably grew into their roles. Rooms were small and sharing was prohibited. Each slept alone. That was Haco's family, and it was all her was to know for two decades. Then, when he was old enough, he was kicked out to find his own way in life

F A M I L Y x L I F E

"Gaolers don't really have much of a family life. We don't have hoards, or lairs as such, since we spend a lot more of our time building and regulating prisons. The idea of creature comforts and building a cozy abode is foreign to us, and we feel such things make other breeds of dragon soft.. Of course, I do not exactly agree.. An occasional touch is nice. I haven't been in a mixed-species lair since recently, and even then I have my own chambers. My species doesn't particularly.. care for knickknacks and decoration, but my visitors insist."

Being a part of a family that disregarded affection, and showed little care, Haco was never taught of love. For several years, he was even unaware that the word could mean something good - to him, he only knew 'unloved, unlovable'. He was unloved by his parents, and his appearance was unlovable. It was only when he met Hera, that he found himself questioning everything he knew about it. He knew of words such as undistinguished, unhelpful. But there was distinguished and helpful too. Was there such a thing as loved, as lovable? His own love was self-taught, and the pearlcatcher could not have been the more perfect dragon to help him through this discovery.

Blood is getting hotter, body's getting colder.
