"It is hard to grow crops in the Shifting Expanse, given the sandy terrain," The farmer explained, eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled. He was an old pearlcatcher missing scales and teeth, but he gave off a fatherly vibe. Extending a claw, he gestured to the baskets throughout his stall. Each held a bounty of vegetables, their surfaces shiny and plump in the midday sun.

"But I made do this fall," he continued, watching as your eye caught on a particularly juicy bundle of zucchini. His holey smile grew wider and he walked toward the muskmelon, rifling through this summer. "And you know what?" he said, looking up with a glint in his eye. "Sometimes the sweetest harvests come of the harshest conditions. You seem the sort capable of appreciating that."

The pearlcatcher raised a tiny little form from the basket, which yawned as it was taken from its veggie-laden cradles. Blinking bright, blue eyes up at you, it yawned, fuzzy tail wagging side to side.

"You seem the generous sort, so this one is on the house. A hardy and fragrant Muskmelon, just for you."
