Patient - Comforting - Friendly - Relaxed - Gentle As a hatchling, Solace was the big brother of his nestmates. Being the largest of the group, it was easy for him to end disputes amongst his siblings and keep peace in their nest. But one quiet and lazy morning; while Solace and his siblings were napping, their nest was attacked by a small troop of Raptorik Warriors, seeming to explode from the brush by the nesting grounds. Solace was forced to watch helplessly as his own brothers and sisters were attacked by the beasts. He did what any hatchling would've done: call for help. He yelled and yelled for the adults to come, but it wasn't soon enough. One Warrior clamped his talons over Solace’s mouth, forcing him to shut up. The Raptoriks squawked at each other, negotiating something. When the sound of adult dragons’ wings sounding nearby in their direction, the Raptoriks started to act quickly in a quiet panic. Pain erupted from Solace’s tiny mouth as the Raptorik Warrior ripped the hatchling’s tongue clean off, slicing it at its base. Blood gushed from his mouth and started accumulating with the tears that were flowing from his eyes. The Warrior then joined it's comrades as they fled; the rest of Solace’s nestmates with them. When the adult dragons finally got there, it was obviously too late. Solace was found in the middle of an empty nest, a nest that had used to belong to a whole family of tundra and pearl catcher hatchlings. But now he was alone. When he was asked by the adults, he could not tell them of what he had witnessed. The Raptorik Warrior had left the hatchling permanently mute. His tear-wet, splotchy face could only show the dreadful signs of sadness and guilt. The dragons found him almost completely useless and lame in his new physical and mental state, and when the tundra was old and mature enough, they sent him away. In all honesty, Solace was happy to leave. The clan he had hatched in had left him with only anxiety and trauma, as well as guilt and loneliness. So Solace went on his way, traveling wherever the wind would carry him. Finally, he came across Clan Cadence. They welcomed him in with open arms; embracing the tundra like no one ever had before. Solace doesn't really have a job, he just kind of lays around and basks in the sun. Although he does help foraging sometimes. He is mute, so his only communication is through soft, low growls and chuffs. Many dragons come to him for comfort or company, he doesn't really have anything else to do. |
