A deepsea-dwelling wildclaw who rescued the priest Nereus when Atlantis fell, Palaemon is a selfless and utterly devoted dragon. As Nereus' body was dragged down into the depths with the wreckage of the city, Palaemon bravely dodged and weaved the sinking stone and made a grab for the coatl's robes. Holding Nereus close, Palaemon swam back to the safety of his grotto and brewed extremely rare branchia weed tea so that the coatl would grow gills. The aquatic wildclaw nursed Nereus with great care and attention for a week, and despite the fact that they were strangers, found himself falling deeply in love. When Nereus finally awoke, Palaemon reassured him with a calm and gentle tone, and the pair talked for days. The priest wept for his destroyed home and the loved ones he had lost, and Palaemon stayed by his side while the coatl grieved.

When he was strong enough, Nereus and his new mate sought out other survivors, and together they planned to establish a new Atlantis underwater, and began by recruiting help from other marine-dwellers like Palaemon. In time, the city was rebuilt stronger than ever before, shielded by a crystal dome at the bottom of a trench. Here their society thrived, with temples filled with thinkers, inventors, spiritualists and healers. The New Atlantians were a peaceful people brought together by tragedy, living as an advanced culture who had learnt from the mistakes of their past, ensuring their future for generations to come.

Palaemon was made a Healer of the First Order in the main pantheon, and his wings were intricately painted in honor. But despite his new distinguished title, Palaemon remains a quiet, perceptive and courageous dragon who always puts the needs of others before his own, and he dedicates his time to aiding his fellow Atlantians. Together with his beloved Nereus, they pass their knowledge on to the next generation, teaching them of their heritage and of the skills required to continue to help make New Atlantis a better place to live.
