Flog

-Old Soldier-

Flog's a soldier. He would rather follow a command than give one, he had to give commands for a long time and is burnt out. His spirit has been twisted by too many hard choices, now he feels very little for the common problems of others. Only death or something near it registers emotion with him, he relates to this with Kagak (another soldier) and a few of the other clan fighters.

His best friend is Kagak, they talk very little but spend a lot of time together standing side-by-side sometimes exchanging a few short words about the weather.

"Is that smoke in the air?" Kagak will ask.

"No." Flog will answer.

Flog doesn’t get along with a lot of his clan but doesn’t care who likes him and who doesn't. He thinks of himself as a retired warrior but really he is not, he still will go out and fight if he felt the urge.

Flog’s mate is Chromlech, he found her when he was wandering in strange lands. He’s pretty sure she is some sort of cursed thing and may not even be, truly, a dragon but (like many things) he doesn’t care. She's pretty enough and quiet enough and... there is something else about her, a hidden strength he admires. Flog is pretty utilitarian when it comes to having hatchlings. He isn’t attached to any of them and he doesn’t care what happens to them when they leave though he would protect his babies while they are living in the same place as he. He would happily (well perhaps happily isn't the right word) train any of them to fight if they asked, he may even offer if he thought one showed potential.

Flog really is, basically, a jerk.

Injuries: Flog was badly, badly injured in his youth in battle. He claims some horrible monster came out of the Mire where he engaged in a battle against some Beastclan (all alone, no less). This monster killed the beastclan members and then turned on him, horribly mutilating his legs and some of his face. He was recovered by other fighters and taken back to his then clan where a genius dragon (whose name Flog will not give and only calls him by ‘the weaver’) remade his legs and horns out of metal and gemstone. Thus, Flog has back legs of silver and red and silver horns. He claims the limbs are run by electricity, tiny gears, and steam and also a touch of magic. Sometimes these old injuries hurt him (perhaps why he is so bad tempered somedays), changes in the weather make his hips ache and his head hurt.

Flog has a slew of personality defects, many of them are because of his age and his experiences. Youth is a myth, do not underestimate the terror which comes with age and fighting experience. Flog is now able to fight without much adrenaline and no fear, his ability to remain calm, clear, and think during combat mixed with his willingness to fight dirty and smart makes him a terribly dangerous foe. He is not forgiving, he holds grudges, and he has very little regard for the "value of life". He is washed with ghosts of death, they cling to him and will not blow away.

However, if you earn his respect (even a small amount of it) he would look out for you in a fight. Flog may be harsh but he wouldn't stand aside and watch a young fighter die if he could stop it (stop it within reason, mind you), he had great mentors in his time and solid training- the fact he has survived as long as he has is not luck and he is aware of that.
