A Fae Warning
Have you heard the tales of fairies trapping beastclan members and dragons alike? Have you heard of the simple rings of mushrooms that seem so harmless until you set foot in them? Their music is entrancing, you know. To an unsuspecting dragon lost in the woods, it might sound like a celebration of some sort is starting. What harm could there be in asking directions?
The border between the Shadowbinder’s domain and the Gladekeeper’s domain, the place where the dark trees of the Tangled Wood merge into the lush green of the Viridian Labyrinth… it holds something similar, but far more frightening.
A part of the forest, half concealed by the darkness of the Tangled Woods, where glowing mushrooms turn a pale green and form swirls in the earth. The spiraling paths the fungal growths make all twist and turn into the same place: a massive ring of trees, their exteriors made fuzzy by swarms of mushrooms. There is no “Fairy Ring” in the earth. No spell being sung in the air...
But the footprints.
The footprints in the earth that seem so strangely similar to those of a Fae’s, yet so different. They paint a clear warning. A sign to those that are aware of their surroundings;
If you wish to leave this place unharmed or unchanged, you will go around.
This place is not for you.
Ignore the dancing lights. Ignore how the clearing seems to grow more vast in its interior the closer you come. Ignore the hum of magic in the air, how it shakes your bones inside of you, thumping to a beat you cannot hear. Ignore the lilting song that comes with it, so unearthly, yet so enticing…
And for the love of the deities, don’t look into her eyes. The Fae-like creature is as unpredictable as the ocean. She will not spare you. No matter how you try to plead for mercy. If you look into her eyes, and she deems you a foe...
Your home will be left empty, desolate, only occupied by a small swirl of greenish mushrooms.
