Rivulet was just a hatchling when he was captured by Fire denizens and forced to work in a forge. The grueling work went against his nature and caused him to be constantly ill and feverish. It was a shock to him when Artemisia whisked him away from his place of enslavement, and an even bigger shock when she said he was free to go wherever he wanted now, but welcome to stay with her if it made him feel any safer. Rivulet, of course, didn't understand what Artemisia even meant, and followed his rescuer around like a lost puppy... upon which Artemisia realized she would have to start a lot smaller.

In spring Song, all dragons took at least a little bit of responsibility for Rivulet's recovery. As he managed to slowly get over a wall of aprehension and trauma and become less reserved, allowing himself to speak and act freely, Rivulet developed an air of dignity and strenght that is almost haughty. Nowadays, though his voice is low and his movements are measured, Rivulet commands the respect - and often the admiration - of other dragons. Creative, focused and sharp-witted, he has been hammering out literary creations with the same diligence his mate dedicates to the boilers and the forge.

Artemisia courted Rivulet for many moons, slowly, afraid to pressure him at first and then, simply, unsure of his feelings for her, before they became mated. The consensus is Spring Song is that both are perfectly matched in their imposing nature, and yet, when they are together both show their sweeter, warmer, more loving side. Artemisia made every piece of jewelry Rivulet wears from his melted iron shackles.
