I S K H A R A t h e . s o v e r e i g n The day's last rays of sunlight tinted the marbled hallways a soft gold as the sound of footsteps echoed through the corridors. Iskhara rushed along the halls, paying no mind to the slight burning sensation she felt wherever the sun caressed her skin. With one hand she held a pile of documents close to her chest, fingers grasping tightly at the papers. The Sovereign was almost late to a meeting with the council, thing almost unheard of in the centuries she presided over Port Umbra. The methodical organization of her thoughts was scattered, much like her pile of papers, as she was pulled into a room a couple doors away from her destination. Laughter filled her ears as she reassessed her surroundings, finding a familiar redhead - bright like the sun - beaming at her. Iskhara sighed, rolled her eyes, and dropped down to hurriedly pick up the (now disorganized) documents. "Aww, come on, don't be mean! You can at least pretend to be happy to see your sunshine!" "Zariphiel, we'll both be late." The smile on Iskhara's face betrayed her cold words. It had been a long time since things felt so lighthearted - if ever. Although she often finds herself having to cut her dearest's fun short, the sovereign cannot help but to indulge in every second of chaos created by them. It is a nice change of pace from everyday's order and etiquette, but a candle flame may start a house fire if left unattended, and there's only so much she's willing to risk before she herself gets burned. At that moment, there was a meeting to attend. It is uncouth to leave the council waiting, even if the cause of the delay was another member of said council. There will be time for some levity, later. |
