Biography

Plan: Iri/Shim/Smoke

Phoenix wasn't always a dragon - before Angel had come into his life, Phoenix spent his days happily playing in the grass fields with other chipskinks. Until the day he played too close to some lair where some great tragedy had happened, and poor Phoenix the chipskink was scooped up by little dragon hands and absolutely Magic'd on. Now he was a DRAGON, big and with too many eyes and with RESPONSIBILITIES.

The lady who cursed him into existence but different also had a weird power over him. He wanted to help her? Maybe? Dragons had been a menace to chipskinks everywhere for so long, but this one seemed different somehow. There were plenty of chipskinks around her, he noticed, that she was paying no mind to. So why me? he complained to himself. I was a handsome chipskink. I had so many holes to dig! Places to run to and then back for no reason! Plants to chew! Dragons to annoy while sleeping! Phoenix pouted, examining his new wings.

The weird dragon lady approched him. "Are you okay?" She seemed worried. "Sorry to bother you - I needed someone strong enough to knock her out of the boundaries of this curse." The dragon pointed to another, much bigger dragon. "You seemed like a tough one, can you do that for me?" "NO." Phoenix said, and jumped at how loud his voice was. The dragon did too. "NO NO NO. NO NO NO. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO," Phoenix sang, admiring how loudly he could say words now, hopping around to make little earth shakes when he said things for more impact. The dragon just watched. Bored of his song and dance, Phoenix hopped and flapped back towards the dragon, limbs flailing to stop himself just before the point he'd bump into her. "I'M HELP NOW!" he yelled, bounding into the cursed lands before anyone could stop him.

Luckily, he didn't need to be told not to stop - now, a single step covered so much land that every move was flying, and some of his moves were actually flying. Why would anybody spend any time not moving ever? Phoenix found his target. He knew what to do here - he and his friends had always had a pretty awesome time playing knock-each-other-off-the-stump or bet-you-cant-get-me-off-of-this-rock and he was kind of a big deal in the sports world. He lined up, did a wiggle for good luck, and started running. Maybe being a dragon isn't so bad, he thought, right before pummeling into the bigger, featherier dragon.

Once he had knocked her out of the proverbial stump in a very showy and sportsmanly manner, he was sure to introduce himself and be good and all of that. Then he flew the big dragon lady around because she was mostly rocks and the small magic dragon lady wanted to and flying was pretty cool and nobody would listen to him for like, a whole hour when the two dragon ladies were doing some magic stuff together and talking. At one point they were giving the littler dragon lady a name, to which he had offered MAGIC DRAGON LADY, BECKETHA, HURGLAMURTHISA, AAAAAAA, (here he actually just wanted to yell) PINMORF, DRAGON 1 (the other one could be DRAGON 2) or NOT PHOENIX, which were all VERY GOOD NAMES but was ignored because the real dragon ladies were 'having a moment.' Which was fine by him. Moments were gross. He'd just save his cool awesome names for other dragons.

When the dragon ladies were done with their moment, Angel approached him. "I didn't ask you what you wanted, little one," she said softly. "YOU ARE LITTLE." "I guess I am," she laughed. "I don't want to take you from your family though. You can be whatever you'd like now, I'm a little surprised you're still a dragon." "IF I AM COOL AGAIN CAN I GO BACK TO DRAGON." Phoenix shouted. "If you wanted to, yes," Angel said, Oak landing next to her. They shared a glance. "You have a home with us if you want it, whatever you choose to be," Oak added. And they meant it. And he stayed.

(That is, excepting weekends, where he returns to the chipskink colony in the forests among the edges of The Lightweavers' domain, to keep his title of knock-each-other-off-the-stump and bet-you-cant-get-me-off-of-this-rock champion. He is also surprisingly good with hatchlings, and provides comfort to dragons out of their element by shapeshifting into familiar beasts. While he understands other dragons much better now, Phoenix is still a huge fan of shouting very few words very loudly very frequently. At least he can always be heard over the wind.
