Bedivere is an artisan. The food he cooks is exquisite, and somehow manages to taste fresh even during the long winter months when he's breaking into the stores of canned, salted, and dried ingredients. Despite his skill with ingredients meant to last, Bedivere will always have a passion for working with food freshly gathered- especially fish. When he's not in the kitchen, he spends most of his time dwelling near the small pond located in Clan Understar's territory, fishing or swimming. Or both. He occasionally longs for the Sea of a Thousand Currents, with its temperate climate and plentiful seafood, but Clan Understar is home.
Like Bedivere, his mate, too, is an artist- although not with food. Svanja loves to paint and sculpt, particularly images of the daily happenings of the clan. The two of them often find inspiration in each other's work. (See Svanja's many paintings of leaping fish and flowing brooks, and the way Bedivere sometimes applies colorful sauces and glazes to look like paint splatters).
But no matter how much Bedivere loves to cook, he can't feed the entire clan on his own. Tairinkain is his assistant, who enjoys heavy spices and robust flavors. He can be more of a hindrance than help sometimes, though, as he likes to steal "samples" of much of the food, even if it's not really something he should be eating. Thankfully Bedivere seems to have eyes in the back of his head.
He also keeps an eye out for Xyshaun, although not necessarily for the same reasons. While Xyshaun certainly will steal food, Bedivere likes to spend time with him outside of the kitchen. He's teaching Xyshaun to fish, and they often spend what little free time they both have fishing at the lake.
