Miriam

Growing up part of a wealthy family, one would think Miriam would be highly trained and powerful. Sadly her mother preferred her identical twin and thus, Miriam ended up being a scapegoat. Always forced to speak only when addressed, mocked, not allowed to train her powers, and forced to live feeling as if her own existence was her fault. When she was forced onto the Auction House to be sold as fodder, she wondered what she had done wrong to deserve so much hate while her self-absorbed twin was spoiled silly.

When Fria found her, she sensed potential within her body, and welcomed her into the clan. Originally having gone by the named Magicsong; a name her mother had always sneered with disgust and never addressed her with, Miriam no longer wonders what she did wrong, now believing that her mother decided that she was expendable due to her twin. She is now looking to claim her rightful place as heiress of her family due to her mother forging the disowning documents.

Early on into her training, when it became clear her powers were too strong for her body to control, her mentor decided to create a set of wings that would be grafted below her primary set in the hopes of decreasing the load on her body. Shortly after they were grafted on, they changed, and a multitude of eyes opened along the ventral side of each leading edge, giving her an edge over an opponents who attempt to blind her main eyes. Shadowside assumes that this was her body's way of trying to off-vent extra power and give more space.
