Nobody in Havendish Clan knew where the egg had come from. One late summer day, Gertrude announced that there was an egg and refused to elaborate further. Several days later, a tiny purple fae popped out, smelling strangely of snickerdoodles. She declares that his name was Adrien and she refused to keep him. Considering the librarian’s more, ah, eccentric tendencies, this came as a relief to the whole clan. He became the responsibility of the community as a whole, tottering between houses to get dinner and second dinner. Evren and Francis were particularly fond of him, and he often slept curled up at the foot of their bed in a pile of blankets. From the very beginning, Adrien was a good eater. From peas to pastries, bugs to berries, he loved everything he could get his teeny tiny paws on. And when he wasn’t eating, he was squeaking, and then speaking! Once he started, he wouldn’t shut up. He chattered about anything and everything, especially food. Soon, he began to experiment with making his own dishes. At first his creations were disgusting, but as his skills grew, the clan didn’t only have to pretend to enjoy them. Sweet things were his specialty. He baked throughout his teenage years, and when the time came for him to find a job, and it came as no surprise when he opened a dessert shop. He served up cakes and cupcakes, truffles and trifles, cookies and cream pies, all with a side of excited conversation. Adrien became the clan’s foremost baker, but he yearned for recognition from the wider world. So, just after his first hatchday, he said his goodbyes to Havendish Clan and left home. Upon hearing that his old neighbors had started a café in Willowfern Village and needed some helping hands, Adrien ventured to the lush and lively Everblooming Gardens. He had never seen so many trees, and ones of such a large size at that! Filled with inspiration and excitement, he approached the doors belonging to Aspartame and Atlantis. To Adrien’s delight, the couple had prepared for his arrival by getting him his very own miniature oven, and a room all to himself! Never quite having a permanent place to call home, Adrien was ecstatic. So, from then on, he started working, as well as living, at the AAA Cafe. | .................. |
