► Memories

Before all the darkness has come, there he was, in the place full of light. Anyone living in the Light flight at that time knew who Paradox was. Many spoke about his amazing grace, his strength and his bravery. When he flew through the sky, everyone's eyes were on him. At the start, he wasn't sure why this fame came to be, but with time he started liking having many friends, many people interested in his life and his ideas. But he wasn't a hero and his shining personality was in the end very static. People got bored with Paradox and started going away from him, seeking other dragons to call amazing and great.

This hurt him, but he understood the reason behind it. After all this, he was just their toy to let the time pass. To get away from this all, he decided to go on an adventure, to see different flights. In one way, it was his way of coping with the situation and emotions growing inside him, from the other, he felt free at that moment, so he wanted to spread his wings and fly as far as possible. Without shedding a tear, he left the Light flight and entered the shadow territory.

Dragons there were... shady. As he expected, no one welcomed a light dragon nicely there and Paradox was often met with curses sent his way or thieves trying to attack him. His skills helped him survive there, but he knew he couldn't stay there for longer, as every night he shivered in fear of someone attacking him and paranoia was slowly getting to him. But it wasn't so easy to get out of there, as it was to come there. Many monsters were on the paths to both Plague and Earth flights, so his only option would be to go to Nature, yet on the way there-- he would have to travel through one of the bigger villages. Even though he was sure that whatever would come at him, he would be able to swiftly deal with it, but just looking at the village made his feet tremble. He didn't quite understand why, but he couldn't help but feel scared about entering that place.

In the end, he had no choice, so he collected all his strength and bravery to set his paws into the Shadowmarry Village. In there lived, mostly if not only, dragons born in the darkness and the deepest shadows. Dragons from other flights would try to hide their appearance and mostly stay away from sight, but with Paradox's bright colors it wasn't possible. As he walked through the village, everyone's eyes were on him. Yet they were neither hostile nor judging him, which made him even more uncomfortable. Why were they gazing towards him? With that thought in mind, he started walking faster, but when he was barely a few meters away from Nature, just a few steps away from this darkness - he froze. His breath got short, his knees got weak, and his mind went blank. There was no one in front of him, but just a path in the woods. So what made him so scared?

From the forest he could feel the presence so strong, so devilish, seeking blood and death, the energy so aggressive that probably no one sane could emanate. The dragons earlier were simply looking at someone who is going to hell, their eyes were full of pity, as it was obvious where he was heading. If he only knew before, he would turn back, and either try to break through the hoards of monsters or, if that failed, he could simply go back home... But it was too late now. Everyone's eyes were on him, waiting for him to go, to step into the territory full of flora. With a drop of sweat falling off his face, he swallowed and crossed the border. Once he fully stepped into the Nature flight, the feeling of fear eased a little.

The forest was beautiful. Rare flowers blooming both on grass and trees, bushes with unknown berries just asking to be picked up, families of mushrooms growing in the shadows, small rocks in many weird shapes lying alongside the path, and even dead leaves lying on the ground, made Paradox forget about his fear and enjoy the scenery. The gentle touch of the sun rays from between the gaps in the leaves, made him feel so warm, so happy. The touch of wind made him feel so relaxed. His mind became so calm and he finally was able to get away from all his experiences, past and unpleasant memories. Listening to birds chirping above him, he started thinking about his future, and with those thoughts, he drifted away to sleep.

When he woke up, he saw something amazing. In the dark woods, the path was lighted up by fireflies dancing happily in the air. Unconsciously he started going alongside them, the path they were lighting, and soon after, he found himself in front of a giant tree, which even in dark was seemed bright. There were so many fireflies around it, that what Paradox saw, could've been one of the most majestic sights ever. He stared at the tree in awe, unconsciously getting closer to it. It was as if he was enchanted, he thought, and he wasn't so far off. As he got near to the tree, in a blink of an eye, spiky vines grew out of the ground and attacked him. Being unable to think straight, Paradox got trapped by them. He was still staring at the little bugs and the tree while the vines entangled around his body, and only when the spikes pierced his beautiful hide and the blood slowly started spilling, he came to his senses.

He tried to get out of them, but the vines were hard and sturdy. With every move, more spikes hurt his body. Although the pain was unbearable, he bit his lips and didn't give up. Thanks to his struggles he managed to break off from the plant, but it didn't seem like the end. As soon as he was free, the vines started growing straight on him, as if they were spears striking out of the ground. While trying to avoid them, he wasn't able to fly up, so all he could do is to try and run away. But the more he tried to get further away from the tree, the fiercer the incoming attacks were. In his mind an idea was born, that maybe if he could get on top of the tree, he would be able to fly off. Sadly, he didn't even manage to try.

Between him and the huge oak, a weird plant grow up, and once the petals of the flowers unfolded, he saw a bright green flower, from which yellow mist started spreading. His senses went weak and he started coughing. His body became so hot, and he started to sweat so much. In that moment, he thought he was about to die. As soon as the mist appeared, the vines disappeared. Paradox gazed upon the plant that was poisoning him. While he was trying to breathe, he moved his mouth trying to say something, but not even he knew what he wanted to say. Yet right after that something unexpected happened. The flower closed itself and all the symptoms that Paradox had were immediately gone. He stood up straight and looked around - everything seemed to went back to normal. Only when he tried to move, he realized something.

From his front legs, two little sprouts were poking out. He felt both fear and pain going through his body. As he has taken into realization what most likely happened, he started regretting ever coming to Nature, or even going away from his home-place. The yellow mist must have been full of little seeds, which the flower spread and, while he was trying not to suffocate, some of them planted themselves into his body and began growing. Just as he finished analyzing what just happened and was about to calm down - from the little sprouts vines started growing and slowly entangling him. He screamed in pain, as the skin on his front legs got torn apart. The plant burst up along his arms, up to his wings and there it transformed into thorny vines, from which beautiful yellow flowers starting blooming, similar to the one that cursed him with its seeds.

After that, the plant stopped growing, but Paradox felt so weak, he had to lie down. It was so uncomfortable for him, as some spikes were piercing his skin, and there was so much dried blood on his fur. He looked up the sky and noticed the moon, which was in its full form. He started feeling lethargic and, because of his wounds, he couldn't fight it. He didn't like the idea of falling asleep in this place, but he had no strength to even move. As his mind was fading away, he wondered, if maybe once he wakes up, this all will appear to be a nightmare, or will he perhaps, never wake up?
