Quote:
No one actually knows about where Datura came from. All they know is he doesn't want to talk about it- and that his labor was cheap. Under Nirodromeus's coin, all of his experiments are funded for. It was an open secret that Datura was doing some... Less ethical things in his free time. Everyone knew he was making poisons for Nirodromeus; they just don't dare to ask.

Sure, questioning the paranoid king would get you in enough trouble, but crossing Datura? Much worse. That's how the other's viewed it. He was cunning, he was clever- but worst of all, he was efficient. Ask about his poison, ask about his past? It was dangerous.

Now, would he actually poison someone over something so minor? Eh, no. No he wouldn't. His hand's were stained enough, adding more would only bring suffering. He had done enough already, his day's of direct poisoning were over. Yet, he doesn't stop making the stuff. He needs money to live, he uses his talents for his survival. Datura did truly love making poison, why stop? It wasn't on his hands for what Nirodromeus did.

Datura was being paid to do what he liked. To do what he was talented for. Even if it makes him sorrowful from time to time, he wouldn't stop. There was no need to.
