Volans

Volans has always been a happy, easygoing dude. He'd had a relatively uneventful young life, growing up with his nestmate Hydrus and spending many years adventuring all throughout the Ashfall Waste together. Though the gembond they'd been born with made it tough for either of them to fly, creeping over their wings, they found their own way around by using the terrain they'd grown up in to their advantage and searching for answers to their boundless questions and curiosity.

When they were grown the two parted ways, searching for new lands to explore and perhaps to settle down in. They kept in touch as often as they could still, though, and therefore when he heard Hydrus had been called to serve the Tidelord the tug of sadness he felt was undeniable. As glad as he was to hear his brother had found a calling, he knew it'd mean no more exploring foreign lands together; seeing new places. Still, Volans was nothing if not eternally optimistic, and he headed on to eventually alight in the Zephyr Steppes.

He'd noticed the dragon that looked so similar to him and Hydrus right away, lighting up at the thought of meeting a kindred spirit! Unfortunately it didn't seem like he - Grumbly, what a funny name - was of a similar mind, but Volans was persistent. When he realized too that he was his nephew, even - well, they'd just have to be friends, now! Slowly Grumbly even began to open up to him - an inch at a time. No doubt most find them an unusual pair of friends, but Volans is full of enough sunshine to share with anyone, and he'll gladly get to know anyone who doesn't mind hearing him talk!
