Kaamah is a gentle spirit that lives in the icy mountains of The Sourthern Icefield. She shows kindness to the travelers who dare venture up into her territory to meet her and commends them for their bravery to trek such a dangerous mountain. Although she's not a powerful enough spirit to give the travelers any gifts, she helps fight against the bitter cold that tries to attack their skin and provide as much shelter from snowstorms as she possibly can. As well, she leads them down to the mountains hot springs down below Kaamah's territory, and despite Azula - the hot springs spirit - protests, she reluctantly welcomes Kaamah's visitors and lets them use her hot springs.
The relationship Kaamah has with Azula is rather complicated. The two go together like ice and fire, with Kaamah being cool and collected, and Azula being rash and aggressive. Kaamah is often the one to help Azula calm down from a tantrum, with Azula being the one to lift Kaamah up if she becomes too down on herself. Although the two consider each other best friends and possibly more, they can never touch or be near each other, as Azula's fiery presence warms Kaamah to the point where her spirit begins to melt and burn. For this reason are they reluctant to call themselves partners, as they wonder if the other would be able to find someone else that can give them the physical presence they can't give.
