Callahan's ward, Lumina's history is largely unknown. Callahan doesn't talk much about how he came to care for the young dragon, and Lumina doesn't remember much of her time before the Hewn College.

Despite this, Lumina's shrouded origins have never bothered her much. She's cheerful and friendly, known by all of the college's residents as somewhat of a trouble maker. Callahan originally attempted to teach her as a student of the college, but Lumina was utterly uninterested in sitting still long enough for formal classes. Instead, she wanders the college, often bothering researchers. While she's not a formal student and never did well in the overly stuffy lecture halls, she's far from stupid. She has shown interest in the college's research, particularly that of the Hewn city itself, which she finds herself strangely drawn to.
