Biography

Please return to Phoebici

  • grew up an orphaned, alone, nameless street urchin in a big clan
  • stole bread and other small food items to simply not starve
  • eventually, a traveling noble family found her and adopted her, whisking her away from this large clan
  • she was very happy to be off the streets, and to finally have people who loved her
  • a couple years later though, she was abandoned by them (reason unknown, gotta figure that out)
  • now, in another entirely new and strange place, she's a street urchin again
  • takes to mugging others for coin to have hot meals and an actual bed
  • some have tried to approach her and even befriend her, but she's always pushed them away, sometimes literally
  • as time went on, and she grew up, even the people that originally wanted to help her slowly start disappearing as she's no longer a desirable child, now a flighty, angsty teen
  • and as she started becoming undesirable, nobody wanted to help her, either
  • so, she took to stealing and mugging and thievery even more
  • she set traps and ambushes to overwhelm her victims even as a solo act
  • she met someone who didn't immediately dislike her, and this guy turned out to be her first friend, called Desmond
  • Desmond was a loner, a street urchin as well
  • he liked her banditry ideas, and they started working together
  • it was very rough at first, but they eventually learned how to work together, and slowly worked their way up the ladder
  • they became a notorious bandit duo, and hunters were sent after them on multiple occasions
  • it got worse and worse, to the point where they could barely get any sleep from constantly running from hunters
  • they got cornered
  • and were given an ultimatum
  • repent and turn their ways for X years and become an indentured guard, or be sentenced to jail for the rest of their lives
  • the unnamed dragon looked at Desmond, her only friend, thinking they were gonna fight their way out, together
  • but to her horror, Desmond turned his back on her
  • she managed to escape, heavily wounded, into the deepest part of the woods
  • she slowly healed, kept herself disguised, and resorted to the only thing she thought she was really, truly good at
  • she turned back to begging for spare coin, begging for scrap
  • always looking over her shoulder, always on the move
  • she found herself in a very rich city, with a very poor underbelly without much middle or in-between
  • she wandered around, still a nameless urchin, too weak to try her earlier banditry tactics
  • the city was beautiful; a colorful, exciting place that would have been wonderful to visit under different circumstances
  • she kept herself hidden and simply wandered the city, being chased away from higher-end places, beckoned by shady figures that dwelled in shadier alleyways
  • what she didn't know about this city, is that it loved its festivals
  • one day, she landed smack in the middle of one, surrounded by a throbbing, massive crowd
  • panicking, she tried to run but like quicksand, got sucked deeper in, until somehow she ended up quite literally in the middle of a parade
  • guards immediately moved to try and shove her back into the crowd, so she bared her fangs and unsheathed her claws and was ready to fight
  • until...a very stern, very beautiful bogsneak seemed to just apparate between the unnamed teen and the guards, and with but a look, the guards backed down
  • she was swept away from the crowd, brought back to what appeared to be a luxury inn, with beautiful satin pillows, golden and bejeweled dishes and candelabras
  • she learned the beautiful golden and crimson bogsneak was named Amorra
  • Amorra fed her, bathed her, clothed her, and practically pampered her, but couldn't crack the hard exterior of her
  • it deeply saddened Amorra, to see one so young be so full of distrust and hatred and fear, running nonstop, covered in grime and her own blood
  • Amorra spoke in a deep, stern but gentle voice, offering her something she hadn't had in forever
  • a home
  • so, she stayed
  • conflicted, feeling like she should run, but something about Amorra felt comforting and warm, and she so desperately didn't want to give that up
  • she became a "trainee", using feminine wiles to excite customers, then rob them blind while they're smitten
  • but as a trainee, due to the ranking ladder, was forbidden from entering the higher-ranking areas, such as where Amorra was
  • despite that, it wasn't her favorite method of making money, but she did it
  • and she did it well, well enough to over time work her way up the ladder and graduate from being a trainee
  • and finally, she could see Amorra again
  • Amorra was glad to see that she was doing well
  • she looked healthier and wealthier
  • the two spent time together, and she grew close to Amorra
  • she stayed there for the better part of a year total, before her past caught up to her
  • a group of bounty hunters from the faraway city of her home made their way into this bright and new colorful city
  • they caught wind of her working as a courtesan/pickpocket in the Lily Grove, and demanded entrance
  • Amorra, knowing that this was her friend's past catching up to her, declined them entry and slammed the door on them, then went to warn her friend
  • she had to flee
  • it was the only thing she could do to keep Amorra and her friends at the Lily Grove safe
  • it came naturally to her, at the very least
  • she didn't expect plumes of thick, jet-black smoke to erupt from the Lily Grove after she stole away
  • she didn't expect the crowd to surge towards her, running from the rapidly spreading fire that was beginning to consume the mercantile town
  • she didn't expect the tears streaming from her face in fear and worry for Amorra, her only true friend in her lifetime
  • a month passed, a month of her running, surviving in the woods, before she finally...decided
  • it came to her in a small clearing, as she laid down and looked up at the night sky, such a peaceful scene, but her mind was racing
  • she would never be safe, nor have a peaceful home in a city
  • it was a series of bad choices and uncontrollable events that led her to here, but now she had to come to terms with it
  • for the second time in a month, and even the second time in her life, she sobbed
  • her whole body was wracked with grief-stricken shaking and crying as she mourned her past, mourned the little urchin girl, mourned her first friend, mourned her robbed childhood
  • she fell asleep crying, and when she woke, she chose for herself a name; Rapture
  • her first name, in all her years of living
  • no longer was she street urchin, or girl, or any other derogatory terms
  • the urchin entered the clearing, but only Rapture walked out, ready to finally start living
  • she went back to the mercantile city, now nothing but ruins that people picked through, trying to salvage their lives and livelihoods
  • Rapture went back to the Lily Grove, and found Amorra among the ruins, trying to piece it all back together, and came up to Amorra with an offer
  • since their lives were now rubble in this city, Rapture offered Amorra to create something of their own; their own clan, technically a bandit group, full of outcasts and misfits and those whose lives have been taken from them, and are looking for a new start
  • this is the start of Rapture's bandit clan, known simply as Plunge
  • Plunge was created in the corner of a ravine that butted up against a cliff side, stretching across the land by the ravine's edge, into the cliff's caves, and down into the ravine itself
  • for the longest time, it was just Rapture and Amorra in Plunge
  • the first permanent other to join Plunge after it was created by Rapture and Amorra was a small, softspoken tundra, with startingly crimson wings
  • she called herself Doriah, and was very fond of snakes, and sleeping
  • her odd obsession with reptiles and sleep was unsettling to her nomadic family, and she was kicked out, her pets rid from the earth, and set to wander and die of heat exhaustion
  • it would have happened to, had Amorra not found her and led her back
  • she was welcomed with open arms, and given a place in the coolest, darkest corner of the cliffside caves
  • as time went on the group began to become a hub for outcasts, either looking to start anew or simply using the group as a stepping stone to restart
  • both of which was okay with Rapture
  • they had their fair share of stragglers that decided to stay, once they saw it was okay when Doriah stayed
  • Malcolm officially joined next
  • he was a strange alchemist bogsneak who idolized, practically worshipped Baldwin, the trading post bogsneak
  • but his methods and practices got him chased away from his home, and he could never even meet him
  • so Malcolm admired Baldwin from afar, and looked for a safe place to practice, eventually finding Plunge
  • despite his...questionable techniques and eccentricity, he's proven himself to be reliable as he's refined his methods
  • he's a pretty good alchemist, and simply wants to continue doing his work, and doesn't care where he is as long as he can practice his alchemy
  • and that led him to join Plunge
  • he created his own little tent next to the cliff wall, to practice in peace
  • and ended up accidentally becoming the bandit clan's very own "personal Baldwin", much to his annoyance
  • he'd much rather the others leave him alone to practice but he figures since he was allowed to stay, he can help...here and there
  • over time his annoyed and frosty demeanor made way to a begrudging sort of care, as he became an impromptu healer of sorts

  • one at a time, outcasts and misfits all gathered around Rapture, attracted to her shining beacon of hope for a new life
  • as they worked with her, helped her, and she helped them, they began to realize what exactly Plunge meant to her
  • and inevitably, they didn't follow her for money or fame or power, but for loyalty
  • people who had rough starts in life, simply looking for a stepping stone for something to better themselves, or people looking to settle down, or people who want some coin, it didn't matter
  • Rapture took in all kinds, with a kind hand
  • she of course had stern rules, and if those rules were broken it was immediate exiling from Plunge, but that's only happened twice
  • but to her, Plunge became the family she never had when she was young
