Slowly, Ophea raised her gaze towards the horizon. There, on top of the strange tower of earth and dirt that was known as Focal Point sat the Observatory. This is where all the misery had begun. Here, the shade had entered the world. She shivered shortly. If only her family were with her now… They would know where to go from here. But they weren’t. She was on her own. Ophea drew a deep breath and continued her way towards the Observatory. It was time to live up to her heritage.

Ophea is a dragon with a strong opinion. She is a logical thinker, using reasoned arguments to substantiate her ideas. She will not accept any half-baked argumentation. However, that doesn’t mean she is impossible to convince or ignorant. She enjoys a good, thought-out discussion and will happily accept others’ opinions if they help her understand their reasoning. For such topics that she knows little about, Ophea has no troubles taking a step back and letting others take over, happy to learn more about these things.

She is a fighter that has gone through lots of difficult times already, and faced many opponents. There is few that scares her, neither enemies nor life-threats. However, she is uneasy about the unknown and prefers a clear overview over a surprise any time.

Even though Ophea spends a lot of time as a fighter and warrior, she enjoys calm days much more than a day on the battlefield. In her spare time, she spends hours crafting pottery, vases and bowls, and paints them with careful and steady claws. She loves gifting the crafted items to her friends or even has them sold for some coin by someone else, as economy is a mystery to her.

Background

Grown up in the order of Seekers, Ophea was instilled with a deep sense of duty from an early age on. Her parents raised her just like their parents had raised them: aware of her heritage, following the traces of shade, aiming for nothing less than freeing the world of its influence. Ophea was proud to be born for such a noble purpose and trained ambitiously to be able to carry the weight resting on her shoulders.

But fate had a different plan. On the clan’s journey through the Scarred Wasteland, they encountered a large group of hostile dragons. While the Gaolers put up a heavy fight, they stood no chance against the force of numbers. Many of them died and the remaining ones were taken hostage, Ophea among them. It soon became clear what plans the other dragons had with their prisoners: they tossed them into the Wyrmwound as an offering to the Plaguebringer. After Ophea’s father had to witness the death of his wife, he did everything in his might to distract the opposing clan for long enough so that Ophea, still rather small of size due to her young age, could escape. Ophea fled, but she knows her father and others of her clan died that day to save her. In exchange, she swore to continue their legacy and erase the shade.

For a long time, Ophea travelled across Sornieth, hoping to find a track leading her towards her destiny. Finally, she made her way to Starwood Strand, where the shade had entered Sornieth for the second time. At first, it was her only goal to find and erase the shade that she was sure to lurk somewhere around the Observatory. She never could've dreamed of finding a new home there.
