 "The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old age, which means never losing your enthusiasm." In all the stories, the wisest creatures are the oldest. Venerable old men, cackling, bent old women… immortal beings whose lives span centuries. They hold all the wisdom and the clues the main character needs to complete their quest. And then there’s Owl. The first response to the coatl’s introduction is near-univeral. “Oh he’s so CUTE!” Owl hates it. Oh he doesn’t hate being small. There are definite advantages to when others see you as harmless and in need of something.

But you would think, after he opens his mouth, he’d be taken a little more seriously. After all, Owl is smarter than almost everyone he meets. While his body may never age, his mind soaks up information and experience like a sponge; his eyes catch all sorts of details and nuances that others might miss.
Chaotic Daydreams has been a blessing to this frustrated genius. Just about every other place he’s been never learned to see past the outer package. Every time he tried to settle into some sort of work, he was more of a curiosity than someone to be respected… until the lair of the lunatics. These unusual dragons understand that what’s inside is much more true than outer appearances. Here, Owl can actually get on with whatever projects he’s working on. His wisdom and insight are valued for what they are - not just treated as if it were some sort of miracle that something that cute can talk so well. And the coatl is very happy to have others like him - those eternally young and those infinitely wise - to fraternize with.
