Virus

Mercury's right hand dragon. Virus rarely leaves the Plague labs, as everywhere she goes has to be desinfected. She's more spiritual than expected of a researcher and channels her magic by performing rituals. She can get results none of the scientists can, but with the caveat that her methods can only be used by her. They can't be replicated or understood and because it's all intuitive, Virus can't clearly communicate the processes. This all works out for her, as she's irreplaceable to the Council. Without her presence the Plague division wouldn't be as valuable to their ambitions as it is. Mercury knows this as well and sometimes whines about playing second fiddle to Virus when conducting experiments.

Virus has no intention of taking over the division though. The Council just provides her with the subjects, material and space she needs to perform her twisted rituals, all in worship of the Plaguebringer. Virus genuinely believes her work channels concentrated magic to her deity and empowers her. The nocturne sees signs and messages from the Plaguebringer in everyday happenstance around her. When she spots a bad omen or a signal to quit her current project, she will, to the frustration of Mercury who then has to present the rest of the Council with an actual excuse. To Virus her spiritual practices overrule any obligation to the Council.
