Biography
Everyone came. Of course they did; hatchings were still so few and held such meaning for the future of the clan. The proud parents stood to announce the Naming, but you couldn't hear what they said and you suddenly became aware of a louder voice ringing out in the street outside. You hurried to the door, intending to make short work of silencing the intruder and sending them on their way, but as you opened the door, you were met with a surprise.
A lone Skydancer, with wings as green as the surrounding trees, pushed a cart down the middle of the road. It was overflowing with items such that it was a wonder that he could budge it at all. A Tricolor Yapper barked at his heels and a birdcage hung off the front of the cart, with a pink petalled creature perched inside. The various objects on his cart were reflected in his trader's call, which was what had disturbed the festivities indoors.
"Trinkets! Trinkets and Baubles! Something to entice the missus and something to excite your hatchlings! Don't be caught empty-handed this holiday season! Best prices in the territory! Trinkets!"
Fortunately the vendor stopped at once as you approached him, a friendly smile on his face. "Ah, a customer! What may I interest you in today? I have trinkets and baubles galore! Baubles and Trinkets!"
"I am interested in some quiet out here, is what. We are trying to attend to a Hatching and you are disturbing our peace!"
"Well, how perfect is that?" the Skydancer continued in a softer tone. "I have many items just perfect for a Naming as well as some quality items to pamper the new exhausted parents." His voice then dropped to a whisper. "and in the lower cabinets I have some special items for the more discerning shopper..." he finished with a conspiratorial wink. "Please, allow me to show you..."
"Let him come in." You both turned to see the hostess of the party at the door, along with several curious faces peering out the window. "We are done with the ceremony now anyway. Let us see what he has to offer that the clan can use."
Familiars:
Bouquet
A friend of this pilco doesn't fear its toothy grin, but the customers do. It had a very short lived career as mascot of the cart before Hemlock decided it should just stay home. He claims it guards the home well while he works, but no one believes that. It's too friendly. Hemlock keeps it because he clearly loves it as a pet, and often spoils it.
Phil
A beautiful moth Hemlock should be selling but couldn't. He was captivated by it and kept it as a pet.
FluteRoot
Hemlock found it while cutting bamboo for materials. It took to following him everywhere and mimicking his movement, to the great amusement of everyone except Hemlock himself. But unlike Bouquet, this one is well behaved and non venomous enough to be popular with the customers. Also, free bamboo.
Regia
This helpful creature brings rare trinkets and treasure from underwater places on occasion. It usually keeps a dignified poise and is very fussy on how it is treated. Hemlock seems to have no problem spoiling another baby, though.
Globe
A travelling garden for a travelling cart. Makes sense, right? The new mascot for the cart after Bouquet's short attempt. Hemlock enjoys practicing new arrangements for the flowers on its shell.
