The Night-Walker is a gigantic, translucent humanoid figure that walks the mountains of the Cedar Forest at night. It is the night form of the Forest Spirit.

The Night-Walker is neither good nor evil; it protects the forest. When Lady Eboshi shot off the head of the Forest Spirit during its nightly transformation, the Night-Walker's destructive powers were unleashed. Every living thing its body touched died instantly, and some dead things, such as the Wolf god Moro's head, were brought back to life. The headless Night-Walker's rampage ceased when its head was finally returned by Ashitaka and San. Where its body fell, new life grew, restoring the forest that was destroyed during its hunt for its missing head.
