Biography
Master of electronics and tech
An inventor from Dragonhome. Earth wasn't the best flight for him to pursue his interests, so Cryon moved to the Shifting Expanse. He studied there for a long time and became pretty good at designing or improving Lightning tech, but something happened which made him flee for his life. He ended up in the Reedcleft Ascent, where he found a place in the Institute. He doesn't discuss his life in the Expanse and is wary around Lightning dragons, which unfortunately make up most of his clientele.
Cryon's special interest is tech from the Second Age and other bygone eras. He's determined to figure out the timeline of technology leading up to the disaster that wiped out the mysterious pre-dragon civilisation and gave birth to the Arcanist.
Rigid, hard to gauge, hides behind his goggles, often sounds weary and tired, sleeps a lot, isolates himself, disappears in his research, leaves field trips to his 'assistant' Andari, doesn't seem to notice or care about much besides his projects, very weak magic, relies on gadgets, something of a ghost to the other members of the Institute.

Andari
Enterprising | Creative | Irresponsible
Andari is a flamboyant pearlcatcher who serves as Cryon's test dummy. He's dumb as a brick but too self absorbed to notice.
- History
When Cryon first arrived in the Windswept Plateau after fleeing the Lightning clan he'd been staying with, Andari was the first local he encountered. The pearlcatcher offered him help, as the haphazard flight had left Cryon injured and haggard, and latched onto him immediately.
Andari's many disastrous schemes had gotten him a reputation among the local Wind clans, forcing him to wander the highland alone. Meeting the first dragon not to run away from him after a couple of hours made him declare Cryon his new best friend and travel companion. He saw an opportunity to collaborate when he learned of Cryon's technological know-how. In exchange for the use of his inventions, the pearlcatcher offered to serve as a guinea pig. Cryon, who was too pre-occupied to consider Andari's intentions, agreed, and was subsequently stuck with the pearlcatcher.
- Relationships
Andari has grown on Cryon throughout the years. While his antics can be a pain to clean up, the tundra appreciates the fact that Andari never tries to pry into his past, like his other colleagues do. When Cryon wants to to have a personal conversation Andari is there to listen and offer up terrible advice, and when he wants to be left alone Andari leaves him be. The pearlcatcher in his turn is happy to learn about technology from Cryon, who he considers a genius. He appreciates the tundra for being straightforward with him, unlike the dragons who'd brush him off with an excuse or avoid him so as not to tell him directly to leave.
- Personality
While he's none too bright, Andari gets many ideas for hair brained schemes. Usurping clan leaders to create the utopic society he'd thought up in five minutes, catching and training silky moles to dig a tunnel below the Scarred Wasteland so the Wind Flight can launch a surprise attack on Dragonhome, singlehandedly fighting the Flamecaller because he figured he could blow out her flames with Wind magic: these are just a few of his plans. Needless to say they always fall apart before he can do any real harm.
- Abilities
Andari is actually quite a powerful magic user, but doesn't have the brain capacity to make good use of it. If he had any common sense he could have been a dangerous sorcerer, but fortunately for everyone, he does not. 90% of the time he only uses his magic to make his mane and cape blow dramatically in the wind.
