Maximiano found his calling by catering to the care, love, and nurturing of the animals in the world. He came to the lair by chance and found his home here when he noticed how well the creatures native to the area were cared for. Even the ones eaten are cared for gently and with great respect. It was because of Maximiano that a prayer became involved in the hunting and snaring of prey. A prayer to thank the lords for their bounty, for the life their food is to give.

Maximiano cares for all creatures but has a fondness for reptiles of all kinds, whether it be the ones that cling to him or the familiars that find their way into the lair. He helps others find familiars of their own, though not alone. He has help from the Frog and Toad based Coatl Savanan, the Snake based spiral Bane, the woodland creature carer Pearsal the Tundra, Korb the Coatl who cares for canines, Kerri the Wildclaw who cares for birds, Sav the Feline caretaker, Tayli the Skydancer who cares for mice and rats,a nd finally Bessie and Luci who care for chickens.
