Flickering lights? Cold spots? Feelings of unease? Don’t worry, that’s just Outpost Toast’s resident ghost! Thurlow spends her time playing pranks and scaring dragons half to death. She gets along well with Damien and the two often collaborate to pull off elaborate pranks. Her moral compass is like a roulette wheel – if you’re up to no good, she may appear out of nowhere and loudly announce your presence to alert anyone nearby or aid you in your mischief.

Eliza Thurlow was once the first mate on board The Firemourn – an infamous pirate ship. They had gotten their claws on a precious cargo and were in the midst of transporting it when a violent storm struck. The ship’s captain perished after the mast came down on them. In their last moment, they entrusted the cargo to Thurlow. The Bogsneak respectfully took her captain’s hat and attempted to steer the ship to safety. The ship was tossed into sharp rocks, destroying the hull, and sent Thurlow and the cargo into the depths, where she drowned.

Thurlow’s incorporeal form makes it rather difficult her to come to any harm. Her chilling presence can make even the most seasoned warrior shiver with dread. While she can’t directly interact with weapons, she can possess them and render them too chilling to touch. For her more personal victims, she can make them believe that they are drowning and choke up blackened water, as if reliving her own demise.

Whether or not the cargo The Firemourn was transporting perished that day remains a mystery. Thurlow certainly doesn’t wish to speak about it, and quickly changes the subject or disappears if it’s brought up. The ghost prefers to spend her time in the tunnels below the outpost, scaring unsuspecting victims or chasing the fish in the underground river. She wears her late captain’s beloved hat in their memory. It’s not clear why Thurlow has returned as a ghost and now haunts the outpost. Perhaps her spirit is tethered to something?
