Depending on when you talk to Isaku, it’s like flipping a switch - either you’re going to get a very contemplative and melancholy young man, or you’re going to get an ex-chuuni who viciously denies having previously liked and enjoyed things. He doesn’t feel that anyone takes him seriously, and is constantly trying to figure out how to get them to do so. But it’s not cool to be vulnerable, and it’s not cool to like things. So he’s just gonna not do that!

Anyone skilled with a bow and arrow can claim to strike target after target, but Isaku Umitsu speaks very little during competitions. Isaku practices a form of kyudo with more emphasis on the contemplative aspects, and generally carries himself with an upright, put-together air; in public appearances, this translates to “shoot and get out”. This seems to work, considering he’s placed first in national junior high competitions the past two years. For the sake of privacy, his father has requested that the media keep away, so not much is known about his personality outside of his competition appearances.
