Biography
Hatchet was born deaf, but is an incredibly competent lip reader and is fluent in sign language. She doesn’t try to hide this fact about her, though, believing that clear communication and full disclosure with everyone around her is the most effective strategy both on the battlefield and in life in general.
She does, however, have a bit of a gag she likes to pull on people. She has taught herself Morse code, something very familiar as a strategic language to those in her clan’s battle circles, and will often tap out offhand comments to newer recruits. They will usually respond in turn, and it takes them a while to put together that wait, she shouldn’t be able to hear them. While this is true and she should be prevented from understanding their taps, she has metal gloves and boots specially made to pick up short-range vibrations that allow her to interpret such messages. Their surprise and sheer puzzlement once she responds back in code is something she never fails to get a good laugh out of.
