Highstorm

He comes from a far-off land, where raging storms are a regular occurrence and crustacean-based lifeforms crawl across the lightning swept plains. A fierce glow fills his eyes - yes, it speaks of wind, but it also speaks of a magic only known by those whose tongues can withstand the torrents. On the day he crawls to the twisted vine and bone gate of the Kore clan, Infinite softly places a wing on his cracked horn.

"What is your name, child?"

"Highstorm," he coughs, his voice barely above a whisper. Infinite shares a look with Garnet.

"And what brings you here?"

For a moment, he pauses, a tempest of memory swirling in his soft green eyes. "Highstorm."

The matriarchs gently help him to his feet and lead him inside, where the more curious members of the clan wait to greet him. After a conference so brief it only consists of a murmur and a nod, they bypass the naming chamber.

Garnet raises her head, her rasping voice ringing out across the clearing in time with a low rumble of distant thunder.

"Let it be known that this one is stormborn."
