Riot was the only daughter born to Draugr and Lilith out of one of their nests. She was the youngest, being born after her three brothers. She had a fairly simple life during her short time in the Rotrock Rim, but she, alongside her brothers, felt that it wasn't their calling to stay. So, they began packing what few valuables they had to take with them (in Riot's case, she brought her Blight Nymph, Pathogen, with her).
Of course, Riot never would have thought that she'd be the first one to leave... Nor had she thought that she would be courted in the same sentence, but that's exactly what happened when she met Rhys.
It was... indescribable. There was such a strong aura of power, of royalty, of...
S h a d e... exuding from his form...
His appearance was nothing to scoff at, either.
She felt that he was much more than Shadetouched, but...
She felt something else, as well...
It was a familiar presence, similar to the presence she felt with her brothers and her mother...

So, she was drawn to him anyway, completely smitten with him. This infatuation was so fierce, so passionate, that it completely overrode the Gaolerian red flags waving in her head.
It was a bit scary, and a bit strange at first, feeling a small part of the Shade seep into her mind, touching everything and leaving a strange presence... But she felt safe when she looked into Rhys' eyes. She felt calm, because Pathogen was with her...
So she didn't resist it, even when she felt her mind slowly warp and change...
Her new mission was simple.
Alongside her lover, Rhys, her goal...

Despite being an outsider, she had been welcomed with open arms by her beloved. He introduced her to his father, Alioetheus, who did not see any potential threat posed by Riot and welcomed her to their midst.
She even got to met Rhys' grandparents, Nessiah and Avatre, by pure chance as she wandered around her new home.
They were very intrigued with her, likely due to her close yet foreign proximity to Naomi compared to themselves and others they knew with her blood.
She also was able to learn a bit about Alioetheus from them...
His parents tried their best to love and nurture his egg, but their Gaolerian DNA bested their love for their unborn, Shade-corrupted child... So they distanced themselves from the egg, leaving him to hatch alone.
He was able to care for himself and survive, but she learned that they felt very guilty for abandoning him. Guilty to the point they never confessed before now. Guilty to the point that did all they could to stay hidden from Alioetheus, which included staying deep, deep within the shadows, far away from everyone...
Riot felt it was important to keep this a secret. To this day, she has told no one what she found out, not even Rhys.
Luckily for her, no one suspected or pestered her. The Shade in her knew, but the collective withheld the information from its other hosts.
