Biography

Personality

An astute learner and a skillful engineer, Agnes is extremely passionate about her work—and equally prideful. She's eager to share her knowledge with anyone who will listen, and is quick to correct any error made in front of her. Unfortunately, she is much worse at teaching than she is at doing; she speaks far too quickly, and her arrogant, intimidating demeanor causes others to shy away from asking questions.

For a Fae, she might seem awfully expressive, mostly due to her strange childhood; unfortunately, another consequence of her background is that she has something of a social deficit even with others of her own species.

Agnes is emotionally obtuse. Reading the mood is not her forte, especially with other breeds of dragon, and she makes assumptions about others' motives that are often incorrect.

Focused to a fault, Agnes finds it difficult to drop a task she's started, even when her attention is needed elsewhere. One can tell when she's preoccupied, because her personality seems to transform—her normal snarky, self-assured demeanor is replaced with quiet contemplation, and where she's normally quick to question everything around her, she becomes almost unresponsive if her mind is frozen elsewhere.

For all her flaws, no one would argue that Agnes isn't devoted—to her duties, her family, her friends, and her morals. Though singleminded, Agnes never stops learning, and shifting her beliefs accordingly. She may not always have the maturity to admit defeat in the heat of an argument, but one can always rely on her to think about the subject after it's over, and when she realizes she was wrong, to apologize... although everyone else might have already forgotten the event.

When she's informed that she's misreading emotions, Agnes is quick to change her tune. There are a few individuals who know to call her out on her failings. When she's made aware of her callousness in a situation, Agnes instantly softens.

Relationships

Familiar: Scrap was named, rather harshly, for his small size compared to others of his species. Without a family or a pack, Scrap was found far from the clan one winter searching for something to eat. He was larger than Agnes, but seemed uninterested in harming any of the dragons in the clan. And so, taking pity on the animal, she and Rusty brought him a meal. That day, the poor wolf followed them home from a distance, and the Fae pair humored it by flying slowly to allow him to keep up. It seems he decided to stick around after that, and Agnes has adjusted her routine to entertain him.

Rusty (Fae, mate): One of the few who does not hesitate to go head-to-head with her, Rusty is a a trusted confidante and a dear friend to Agnes. Their relationship followed a strange path; they were the founders of the clan long before they became mates. Or more accurately, Agnes was creating a place for herself to live, and Rusty decided to join her. He did not ask permission, but when it was done, they naturally ended up living together in it. She had just lost her parents, and the companionship was welcome, though she has decided to keep that bit of information to herself. However, as they got to know each other, the two often clashed—Agnes's strict, uncompromising nature formed a very fragile balance with Rusty's playful personality. It took a while for them to adjust to each other; even now, to an outsider, their repartee can seem worryingly combative at times. As adversity forced them to work together, and more dragons started to join their family, the two of them gradually developed a rapport. Now, the two of them rely on each other—for support, and for criticism when they need it.

Urania (Imperial): Both left alone at a young age, and both being rather poor when it comes to social matters, Agnes and Urania are two eggs of the same nest, figuratively speaking. The latter is calmer, more amicable, and unlikely to clash with the former, but can be trusted to keep her in check if need be. When one talks, the other listens, and that's something the two of them find especially valuable. Their dynamic is much more subdued than that between Agnes and Rusty, and when the two have disagreements, they rarely get heated. One issue on which they have trouble understanding each other is Tempest, but that's another story.

Tempest (Coatl): SSssssss
