Deku is based on this character from Breath of the Wild. He is the Deku tree, an old, living tree with a conscience. He guards the forest and its children (the koroks) and is extremely old and wise. He guards the Master Sword that was placed under his care by Princess Zelda, until Link comes to claim it to help him fight Ganon.

Deku is the oldest member of the Silent Princess Clan. He had lived in the area, watching over many clans and their leaders come and go for hundreds of years, until Nayru came and started her own clan. He has watched over Princess Zelda's family for generations and now watches over her. He also cares for Sword, the Master Dragon that Link will one day earn the trust of. When he does, he will be able to take Sword as his own, who will willingly serve him and help him defeat Ganon. For now, though, he rests in Deku's care, as he heals from a battle hundreds of years ago.

Deku is kind and always willing to share his wisdom from hundreds of years of life.
