Stonebinder

Over millennia the intense pressure beneath the surface of Sornieth crushed rock together. The unimaginable heat, so close to the world's core, worked to create something new.

A diamond was formed, imbued with the magic of Sornieth itself.

As the centuries passed that magic began to take form. Slowly it molded stone and rock to its will. Piece by piece it assembled a form.

Basalt gathered to form great feet. Granite lined with veins of quartz stretched up into legs. Sandstone and shale, marble and slate blended.

First formed the body, then the tail, the wings, and the head. Crystals of citrine, sard, and staurolite studded its form. Matching crystals slotted into waiting eyesockets.

Stonebinder opened his eyes.

His diamond heart thrummed with the pulse of Sornieth's magic. He could feel the earth around him, above him, beneath him.

Stonebinder took a step. The earth rumbled in response. Stone parted effortlessly before him. Another step, and then another - the ground began to shake.

He spread his wings. With each flap the tectonic plates shifted and ground against one another.

As Stonebinder flew beneath the ground, the earth quaked with his movements.
